About my blog
This blog is about what I have found to be true during the
experience of surviving my Alcoholism.
I understand that no two drunks are the same and that my experience may not be the same as anyone else. But, I’m talking about MY experience of living with alcohol for
more than 7 years. I will only attest to what has transpired over the lifetime
of an alcoholic.
I’m neither a counselor nor a medical professional. In fact my occupation is very far removed from the world of alcoholism. I have no formal education concerning alcoholism, except for the many support classes in rehab.
I’ve accumulated several months in the AA community which makes me familiar with the concepts. But as my alcoholism has progressed through my Addiction, I have found little comfort in support groups. However, I will make reference to AA because there is wisdom in the Big Book and One Day At A Time. Even if I don’t think there are 12 Steps to sanity, it should be read by everyone involved with an alcoholic.
I’m not a professional expert, I’m only a survivor. And surviving as a Alcoholic in the world of Alcoholic behavior is an education unto itself.
I hope you can take from these writings knowledge that may be hard to get in any other fashion. I will write about little known truths and what you can expect from the medical community as well as family and friends. I will come out and say what no one wants to hear or admit. What I write here will be bare-naked honesty.
In AA, there is a saying – “Take what you want and leave the rest.” Such is the case of this blog.
